Spain is beautifully diverse, offering something to do and something to experience for everyone. It invites MICE visitors to encounter its traditions while discovering its passion, history, and culture. While there are countless ways to engage authentically with Spain, below are the most gratifying:
Tour Codorníu Winery
Discover the origin and history of cava at the Codorníu Winery located south of Barcelona in the Penedès wine region. Cava is Spanish sparkling wine and was first produced here nearly 450 years ago. Consider booking one of its specially curated wine tastings for your attendees’ visit. A team of oenologists and sommeliers select the best cavas and pair each with complementary tapas to stimulate the palate. Suitable for groups of ten or more, the private tour and tasting is offered at price of 50 Euro per person.
Stay at The Royal Monastery of Guadalupe
An apparition of the Virgin Mary first appeared to a farmer in the Extremadura region of Spain in 1325 where The Royal Monastery of Guadalupe now stands. Frequented by Kings and Queens throughout the centuries, the monastery is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site worthy of exploration. Within the monastery walls is an historic hospedería (guesthouse) and restaurant. Serving local dishes such as ajo blanco which is cold soup made with almonds, guests may dine within a courtyard surrounded by the cloister’s walls. The Hospederia del Real Monasterio has less than 50 sleeping rooms making it an ideal stay for an intimate group getaway. Guestrooms are beautifully appointed and feature stunning Gothic architecture.
Hike Caminito del Rey
Meaning King’s Path, The Caminito del Rey was constructed by Alfonso XIII as a footbridge to reach the newly installed Conde del Guadalhorce dam and reservoir in 1921. Not far from Malaga, The Caminito del Ray was once considered one of the most dangerous paths in the world. Since being renovated and made safe for tourists in 2015, the 4.5 mile stretch of path carves its way along the cliff bordering the gorge below. It’s a beautifully breathtaking hike that includes traversing a 1.5-mile footbridge high above the water below. Guided group excursions are available which include roundtrip bus transportation from Malaga and tour guide.
Attend a Football Match
A football match in Spain is an electrifying experience. Home to Real Madrid, Santiago Bernabéu Stadium offers hospitality packages for groups. Nicknamed The Greatest Stadium in The World, indoor and outdoor seating options are available along with gourmet catering service. For a truly unforgettable outing, attend El Clasico where rivals FC Barcelona and Real Madrid play each other.
Visit the Prado Museum
Arguably, the world’s most important and substantial collection of 16th to 19th century masterpieces are found within Madrid’s Prado Museum. One of the most important painters of the Spanish Golden Age, Diego Velázquez created such masterpieces as Las Meninas, The Surrender of Breda, The Spinners, and The Drunkards all of which are on display at the Prado. The Prado Museum offers guided group tours for 50 Euro per person making an afternoon of exploration both unforgettable and affordable.
Now more than ever, your attendees crave an unforgettable travel experience. Book your next MICE event in Spain and add one or more of these encounters to your itinerary.
