It’s easy to assume the reason why Madrid is Spain’s top spot for MICE bookings is due to its accessibility, cultural attractions and endless entertainment options. But that’s not all. The reason for its success is much less obvious. The secret lies in its people. The city’s MICE industry is populated with Madrilenians who are passionate and excited to work with meeting professionals and their guests. The dedication of its hospitality and tourism professionals is perfectly highlighted in the Madrid Convention Bureau’s latest promotional video, Jane Meets Madrid, The Path to a Unique Experience. This award-winning short film follows a meeting planner on a site inspection of the city.
The piece follows Jane, a planner, tasked with researching the destination for a business meeting she is hosting. We follow Jane as she embarks on her site visit coordinated with the help of the Madrid Convention Bureau. Shared from Jane’s point of view, we are privy to her communication back to her colleague, Katherine. Jane’s journey is documented through email, text messages and social media posts.
Jane says, “The Madrid Convention Bureau has got it just right.” Indeed. We follow Jane to a hotel to view guestrooms and hotel amenities. Jane is impressed and is sure her delegates will be too. Next, we see Jane tour meeting spaces. Jane texts Katherine, “I was right, the meeting spaces are exactly what we are looking for. They’re really helpful and caring here.” In fact, the hotel sales manager assures Jane that the facility and city are safe. Thirdly, Jane meets with the DMC. We see the gala dinner venue and a sneak peak of the entertainment planned with another post to social media expressing her delight. Finally, Jane visits a Flamenco restaurant because a trip to Madrid is not complete without one!
In a truly creative fashion, the film ends as we witness Jane’s group’s arrival in Madrid set to a Flamenco score. The convention bureau and its hospitality partners did it again! We follow the group as they check-in, meet, tour, eat and dance throughout Madrid all while following safety protocols. Jane ends with a message to Katherine, “They are so passionate about their work. They took care of every last detail… I’m taking Madrid home with me in my heart.”
I encourage you to view the Bureau’s companion video, MICE Meets Madrid, which documents the real-life participants’ journey through the pandemic and its recovery.
