Musée de l’Amérique Française was created in 1806 by two priests, thus making it Canada’s oldest museum. It houses 195 000 rare books and journals, paintings, furniture, stamps, but mainly scientific instruments and historical medical artifacts from hospitals ran during the 17th century.
Maison Chevalier is a French style house constructed in 1752 for Jean-Baptiste Chevalier, a shipowner and trader. Since it was a good representation of New France’s architecture, it was transformed as a museum in the 1950s.
