Meet in Germany

i-Meet has re-started destination features to assist meeting professionals as they begin to envision how, when and where face to face meetings will resume after Covid-19.

As our “new normal” for face-to-face events continues to evolve, corporations and meeting planners will continue to contract business at proven destinations that have brought them great success. Germany is a choice that continues to offer ideal conditions for prosperous conferences and congresses in the future. Tailored to various areas of business and a diverse clientele, this great country offers the expertise, venues and competence all planners look to achieve. It is the world’s second largest exporter, a leading location for research and development and the largest individual market for biopharmaceuticals, ranking second in the world only behind the United States. In addition to being home to several key sectors of business (including healthcare, automotive and technology), its outstanding infrastructure, easy access, history, economic value and exceptional hotels make it the perfect choice your next event.

Germany is the host for many highly specialized institutions and companies, which are leaders in their respective fields. These organizations and their expertise make this event destination the perfect backdrop for the meeting planning industry. With the ability to connect your attendees to their local industry communities, many German cities such as Cologne, Dusseldorf, Münster, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dresden and Weimar (just to name a few), create an inspiring and insightful atmosphere. Their distinct personalities are the perfect backdrop for events from 10 – 1000. In almost every region, you’ll find intriguing towns and cities that meet your requirements. German cities are regularly among the most popular congress and tradeshow destinations worldwide. They all feature a first-class infrastructure with outstanding hotels and a wide variety of venues catering to every type of style.

The introduction of COVID-19 this year has forever changed the way we do meetings. We all want in person events to come back strong, and Germany is prepared and ready for you. To give such as example, recently the Estrel Berlin conducted a successful test of safe-meetings protocols for 500 guests for May Day. The hotel proactively implemented an array of new event safety measures under the strictest COVID-19 safety guidelines based on the concept of “Distance at its Best”. This includes the adherence to one person per 40-sq ft area, and a new check-in solution to eliminate the need for each guest to check-in individually at the front desk. For guests who do need to interact at the front desk, the Estrel installed special transparent protective windows and positioned hand sanitizers in the reception area and throughout the property.

Housekeeping incorporated numerous new room-cleaning procedures as well. For example, housekeepers use a new set of cleaning cloths for each room, and disinfect all items in the room that a guest could potentially touch. Similarly, the culinary team also developed new safety procedures. Given the extensive function space capacities at the Estrel, the layout of the dining hall was arranged in keeping with “Distance at its Best.” To ensure a safe service of the food and beverage for a dinner for 320 and a breakfast for 500, a tray system was used for both meals – reducing delivery time and unnecessary contact. The guests were pleased with all aspects of service, and the event was a resounding success. Estrel Berlin is just one of the many options that are committed to developing tailor-made solutions offering safety measures and top-notch meeting services for all event participants.

So, why choose Germany? Centrally located in the heart of Europe, Germany checks all the boxes for seamless travel access through a network of airports covering the whole country, not to mention an outstanding public transport system that makes it easy to reach from every corner of the world. It is also home to 40 UNESCO World Heritage sites, 6,000+ museums, amazing theatres and orchestras, and extraordinary culinary scene.

Highlighted by the top position in ICCA‘s latest global Country and City Ranking, Germany counted 714 international association congresses in 2019 and has been Europe’s top location for the 16th year in a row, coming in second place globally right behind the USA. Based on international city comparison, Berlin has risen from fifth to third place in 2019. Only Paris and Lisbon hosted more international association meetings last year. Even with all of the changes in our industry, Germany will remain a “sure thing” amongst meeting professionals and attendees alike.  So, if you are considering Germany as your next meeting destination, please contact the GCB (German Convention Bureau). The GCB enables planners worldwide to access a Germany-wide network of first-class venues, congress centers, event agencies and marketing organizations that are delighted to deliver personalized solutions for your event. They can offer expertise and support to everyone involved in the MICE industry with their network, and serve as a platform for bringing people together with unparalleled industry know-how. Glückliche Reisen!

Visited Berlin a few years ago, a tale of two cities. Cannot wait to go back and spend more time in Germany.
